VrTwo

Stereo viewing, collection and editing

The power and interactivity of VrOne® in stereo highlights the VrTwo softcopy software.

VrTwo adds stereo viewing to the highly successful VrOne® editing and data capture package. This software from Cardinal Systems adds stereo viewing display to the highly successful VrOne® editing and data capture package. VrTwo is comfortable to the eyes and also comfortable to the pocket. Running on standard PCs, total hardware costs are kept to a minimum.

The power of VrTwo is derived from the seamless integration into the VrOne® vector collection and editing system. The power, flexibility and ease of use of VrOne® is available making VrTwo in static or roaming mode work as a photogrammetric workstation as well as a 3D CAD station.

The Power of Two! Maintain the easy yet powerful mapping software of VrOne® in a stereo softcopy.

Tightly coupled with VrOne® - VrTwo is designed to work together with VrOne®, a robust, easy to use vector collection and editing package. All the functionality of VrOne® is available while running VrTwo.

Interactive vector graphics - Vector collection and editing in VrTwo is fast, three-dimensional and real-time with full symbolization, line and text fonting.

Versatile and familiar - VrTwo can be considered a 3D CAD system as well as a stereo plotter collection system. This software is at home in the photogrammetry and CAD editing departments. Mapping professionals who know VrOne® may use VrTwo with very little training.

Static and roaming modes - Static (fixed image, moving cursor) and roaming (moving image, fixed cursor) modes are available as standard delivery.

Cursor masking and magnification - Areas containing dense vectors can make the viewing of the ground more difficult especially when using black and white images.  VrTwo offers cursor masking in which vectors within a user specified distance from the cursor are hidden showing only stereo imagery.  Optional cursor magnification adds to this ability by enlarging imagery around the same area.  This is useful when placing items such as man holes and building corners by allowing an higher overall viewing scale while collecting at more accurate, lower scale.

Model and ground tracking planes - It is possible to track the VrTwo cursor along the model or ground plane.  Tracking the model plane is useful for photography in which the model camera stations are not at the same angle as the ground coordinate system.  This is common in oblique photography and close-range photography.  Using the model plan guarantees predicable cursor movements from the 3D input device and allows collection of ground data from many different photo angles into a common ground data base.  For normal aerial photography the cursor normally tracks the ground plane.  This parameter is user defined and may be changed on the fly.

Minimum entry cost - VrTwo can be run as a single screen solution and may use a standard mouse for XYZ input. Although VrTwo may be started at a minimum cost,  it may be upgraded with dual screens, 3D mouse or hand wheels.

Standard stereo viewing support - VrTwo supports active and passive methods of stereo viewing. This includes the NVIDIA 3D Vision Bundle stereo system and the Planar StereoMirror Stereoscopic LCD System. Graphics horsepower is obtained from the NVIDIA Quadro quad-buffered stereo graphics cards.

Stereo may also be displayed in anaglyph (color-coded) 3D stereoscopic viewing mode (see below).

Stand-alone orientation program - Stereo models may be oriented for VrTwo using the VrTwo Orientation program.  This program provides project management, camera and coordinate management along with inner, relative and absolute orientations.
